Liquidity and volume-at-price zones on the chart
Updated 2026-09-22
Liquidity zones in ChartXpert are horizontal bars measuring traded volume at each price level: long shelves are crowded areas where support or resistance is likely, and short ones are voids price moves through quickly.
How to read the bars
Bar length means more volume at that price. Highlighted shelves are where trades piled up, and the gaps between them are the distances price previously crossed fast.
- The busiest shelves are highlighted with an extended line
- Computed from the displayed candles on your device
- They update when you change timeframe or symbol
Using them for entries and targets
Crowded shelves are commonly used as likely reaction areas, and voids as paths price may travel quickly to the next shelf. Read them alongside the price pattern, not in isolation.
- The nearest crowded shelf above price is a logical first target
- Breaking a crowded shelf is a stronger signal than crossing a void
- You can set an alert on the edge of any zone
Common questions
Are the zones computed on a server?
No — they are computed in the browser from the displayed candles, so what you watch is not sent to a server.
Do they work on every timeframe?
Yes, from one minute to one day, and they are recomputed whenever the timeframe or symbol changes.
