The market is always open; the liquidity is not
“Open twenty-four hours” does not mean every hour is alike. Volume tracks office and trading-desk hours around the world: spreads tighten and ranges widen in the busy sessions, while a breakout in the quiet hours is far less likely to hold. Reading the clock before reading the candle saves you half the mistakes.

- 11:00 – 16:00
- UTC
- 08:00 – 13:00
- What sets it apart
- A clear step up in volume, and where most daily trends begin
US
- Gulf time UTC+3
- 16:00 – 00:00
- UTC
- 13:00 – 21:00
- What sets it apart
- The widest range, and the breakouts that hold
Quiet
- Gulf time UTC+3
- 00:00 – 03:00
- UTC
- 21:00 – 00:00
- What sets it apart
- Low volume; breakouts here are often given straight back
The overlap is the hour that matters
Between 16:00 and 18:00 Gulf time Europe is still open and the US has begun. On most days those two hours carry the largest volume and the widest range, and that is when the previous session's levels get tested. If your screen time is limited, this is the hour to spend it in.
- ▸Before the overlap: mark the high and low of the Asian and European sessions with two horizontal lines.
- ▸During the overlap: watch whether either line breaks on volume above the average of the preceding candles.
- ▸After it: do not apply the same logic to the quiet hours — the range is narrower and slippage higher.
Where does the daily candle close?
The crypto daily candle closes at midnight UTC — 03:00 in Gulf time. That means the “daily close” analysts talk about lands in our quietest hours. Session VWAP in the workspace resets at the same boundary, so reading it means “the volume-weighted average since 03:00 until now”.

opens/closes (EU + US overlap)The weekend is not a session
Crypto trades on Saturday and Sunday, but on visibly thinner volume because equity and futures markets are closed. The result is thinner movement: a narrow range for hours, then a sharp jump when one large order meets a light book. A level broken over the weekend needs confirmation from Monday's session before you lean on it.
Use alerts for the hours you are asleep
- 1Draw a horizontal line at the level you care about on the symbol you follow.
- 2Press the bell button to turn that line into a price alert at that level.
- 3Leave it armed — the check runs in the background around the clock and does not need the page open.
- 4When the level is crossed you get a phone notification and an e-mail copy carrying the symbol, the level, and the crossing time.
- 5A symbol that thrashes during the quiet hours can be muted on its own without disabling your other alerts.
